Lectors

Lectors are parishoners who volunteer to proclaim the Word of God as assigned at Mass on Sundays and at other liturgical celebrations so that the faithful will develop a love for Scriptures from listening to the sacred text.

A lector or proclaimer of the word is the person who proclaims the first or second reading at Mass. This person may also lead the Prayer to the Faithful at Mass.

Who can be a lector?

  • A man, woman, or young adult.
  • A person in full communion with the Catholic Church.
  • A person serious about the practice of their faith.
  • A person who is willing to complete a parish formation process.
